Preston Scoggins Named Dalton High School Head Baseball Coach

Dalton High School has announced the hiring of Preston Scoggins as its new Head Baseball

Coach, bringing with him extensive coaching experience, a strong playing background, and a

commitment to developing young men on and off the field.

Scoggins joins Dalton after serving as an assistant coach with the Dalton High School baseball

program for one season. Prior to his time at Dalton, he led the baseball program at Cleveland

High School for eight years, where he established a competitive and disciplined culture while

emphasizing player development and character.

A former collegiate athlete, Scoggins played third base at Lee University from 2008–2012.

During his playing career, Lee University advanced to the NAIA World Series each season,

providing Scoggins with experience at the highest levels of collegiate competition. He earned

his Bachelor of Science degree from Lee University in 2013.

As a coach, Scoggins emphasizes leadership, accountability, and personal growth, with a strong focus on building meaningful relationships with his players. ā€œI want our program to be built on the goal of becoming quality men,ā€ Scoggins said. ā€œBuilding relationships with our players is essential—it allows us to earn trust, challenge them to grow, and help them succeed both on the field and in life. I get to teach the game of life with a bat and a ball.ā€

A native of Cleveland, Tennessee, Scoggins is excited to continue building relationships within

the Dalton community and to lead the Catamounts baseball program with integrity, passion, and purpose.
